The 100 – Bitter Harvest

“Bitter Harvest” is episode six of season three of The 100.

In the previous episode, “Hakeldama”, Clarke had managed to convince Lexa not to take revenge on all of Skicru for Pike’s slaughter of all the Grounders sent to protect Arkadia in “Watch the Thrones”.

This episode opens with a gift being sent to Wanheda by King Roan of the Ice People. It’s Emerson, the sole surviving Mountain Man, who gave the Ice Queen the information needed to destroy Mount Weather in “Ye Who Enter Here”. Clarke wants to kill Emerson for his actions. Lexa points out that Clarke wanted her to not answer violence with violence, but Clarke claims that what she wants isn’t vengeance, but justice. Lexa gives Clarke until the evening to decide; at which point Emerson must either be banished, or killed by the death of cuts by Clarke herself.

Octavia is spying on Pike’s people, with Kane’s assistance. The party is willing to kill a child in order to keep their secret. Pike is planning to clear ground in order to plant crops for Camp Arkadia. The ground is already occupied by a Grounder village, but one whose warriors were all slaughtered by Pike’s men. Pike plans to eject the Grounders from their village, by killing them if necessary. Pike really doesn’t care whether or not he starts a war, because he’s convinced he’s going to win it. As are most people in that position, and they are usually wrong.

Raven took the key to the City of Light from Jaha, and now feels no pain. Abby is more than a little concerned about what these things that Jaha is giving out are doing; Pike frankly doesn’t care. With Raven joining Jaha, more people are signing up, and Jasper is interested as well. Jaha and Alie want Raven’s help to do something – to look for the upgraded version of Alie’s code that was apparently sent up to the Ark to keep it safe. Raven questions what’s wrong with Alie, given that there’s an updated version of her. Jaha claims nothing is wrong with the AI – carefully omitting the fact that Alie was the one who caused the war that destroyed the planet.
