Stargate SG-1 – Redemption: Part 1

“Redemption: Part 1” is episode one of season six of Stargate SG-1.

SG-1 are still looking for a replacement for Daniel. They’re on their ninth attempted replacement with no luck.

Jonas Quinn, who was seen in “Meridian”, the episode where Daniel died/Ascended, accompanies SG-1 to Nevada, where they are testing out the X-302, the new fighter that uses the naquadria brought back by Quinn, which will be the first human built spacecraft capable of interstellar travel. O’Neill is less than excited about flying it, thanks to his experience in the X-301 in “Tangent”. Flying off sublight towards the stars with no means of turning back can put you off interstellar flight.

Jonas asks to join SG-1, as he can’t return home, and he wants to finish what Daniel started. The stargate also runs into a problem – there’s an incoming wormhole, but nothing is incoming. And without anything incoming – even a radio signal – the gate should collapse. The gate also stays open longer than any gate should, and still doesn’t close. This is actually an attack, with the intention of making the stargate explode – catastrophically.

Dr. Mackay, from “48 Hours”, reappears – which doesn’t make Carter happy. She’s still not any more fond of him.

Naturally, the story continues in “Redemption: Part 2”.

There’s a new credit sequence for this season. It shows images of the stargate, rather than what looked like Tutankhamen’s death mask.
