“The Weight: Part 2” is episode two of season five of Andromeda.
In the previous episode, “The Weight: Part 1”, Dylan had met Rhade, who had survived the events of “The Dissonant Interval: Part 2”. He also believes the planet they are on is Tarn-Vedra – albeit much changed – the lost capital of the Systems Commonwealth and Dylan’s home.
During a ‘discussion’ in a bar, Dylan’s communicator starts to work and he receives a month-old message from Beka. Beka and the Eureka Maru had made it into the system about seven months ago and, as she was running out of everything, she had stumbled across the Andromeda Ascendant – still intact despite crashing into the Magog worldship and having Trance turn into a star on her. Which is either really impressive or really odd.
The Andromeda is out of power and, by the time Dylan and Rhade get there, the Andromeda is occupied by a local power group. It is, after all, still a powerful warship, and therefore valuable.
