Superman and Lois – The Inverse Method

“The Inverse Method” is episode four of season two of Superman and Lois.

Five years ago, and Lois finds Lucy packing. She can’t stay with them any longer, as it only made things worse. Lucy has to build her own life around people who know what she’s going through, and will stay with Ally. Lucy lost everything and says Ally is her friend. She has a hole inside and staying with them won’t fix it. Ally can help.

In the previous episode, “The Thing in the Mines”, it was Ally who came to see Lois in the diner, not Lucy. Ally doesn’t force her congregates to do anything they don’t want to. Lois accuses Ally of brainwashing people. Ally claims that Lucy wasn’t dying; she was ascending to another plane. And the woman who died had an undisclosed heart condition. Lois may have shut down Ally, but only for a while. Listen to the podcast and what Lucy has to say. Maybe Lois will be the one cancelled then. Lois says she will expose Ally for the fraud she is and take her down once and for all. Ally stands, as do four other customers. She doesn’t like being threatened. Nor does Lois. After Ally and her minions leave, Lois calls Chrissy and says they have to find Lucy.

The creature from the mines – which turned out not to be the expected Doomsday – is breathing on a pendant to no effect. Then has visions of Clark at home. After the pain and visions pass, Jonathan and Jordan ask Clark about them. Clark doesn’t know who the other him is. He looks at the door to where Lois is. Jordan has been eavesdropping. Clark tells him not to use his superhearing on his mother. Trust him. But, as he did, what did it say. Jordan says it wasn’t good and Aunt Lucy was on it.

Clark pops in to see Lois. Lucy recanted her story and says Lois actively and selectively edited it to push a personal agenda against Ally. Lucy is gone. Clark says they need to find a way to bring her back.

Natalie and John Henry are in the barn discussing the suit and hammer when Clark enters to say Lois is driving the kids today. Natalie heads to school.

The Cushings are in the diner discussing Sarah’s quincenaera. As Lana goes to pay, Emily comes over. She congratulates Lana on her livestream and says she wants to talk. People were in earlier asking Emily questions of the secrets in closets kind. She thinks Mayor Dean is trying to dig up stuff to use against Lana. And they were asking about Sarah too.

Clark and John Henry are talking when Clark is hit by a vision. The other him is coming. The alternate lands and as Clark and him are close, something seems to be sucked from Clark by the other’s pendant. John Henry calls for his hammer and uses it to break them apart and the other leaves.

Lois arrives at the Gazette; Chrissy has been there all night. On the dark web, posing as someone else. She got hundreds of messages, most of which need to be forwarded to law enforcement, but also an invite from Ally to a conference in New Carthage.

Lana and Kyle are not happy with the mayor’s digging, especially about Sarah and her incident. Kyle suggests going digging on the mayor’s kid, but Lana won’t cross that line.

At school, Candice asks Jonathan if he’s tried the stuff Tommy is using yet. Jonathan asks what it does. She tells him it’s different for everyone. Jonathan is having second thoughts but Candice tells him Timmy bought a bunch of inhalers.

Clark is apologising for dragging John Henry back in. All he cares about is that Natalie is happy. The AI reports a signature analysis is complete. John Henry explains that whatever the other is wearing around his neck emits a unique signature. But the DoD are the only ones with satellites to track it. John’s suit and hammer are busted. Clark says he can take it from here. John Henry says he can’t do it alone, and Anderson’s team are the best offer of help.

Jordan and Sarah are talking to their friend Denise in her parents’ store. Denise has stopped doing cheer because of time and the girls are getting weird since Candice became captain. No offence. Jordan tells her Jonathan never had the best taste in women. Denise thinks that’s too bad as he’s cute. Jordan overhears two kids planning to steal some booze. And goes and uses his breath to make the floor slippery. When they slip, drop the tequila and run out, Denise comments that the whole shop is under surveillance. Which results in Jordan contacting his grandfather to deal with the video. Sam tells Jordan he isn’t trained and if he’d been more aware of his surroundings, he would have seen the camera blind spot.

Jonathan does decide to try Candice’s drug. Lois is having increasing problems with Ally, who seems to be better prepared to deal with her this time. Mayor Dean is fighting surprisingly dirty for a small town. The other Superman is still out there and still dangerous and General Anderson overestimates his ability to deal with him.
