“Fair Game” is episode three of season three of Stargate SG-1.
The US Secretary of Defence is giving a speech at the SGC regarding the defeat of Hathor and the rescue of SG-1 in “Into the Fire”, which is followed by General Hammond announcing the promotion of Captain Carter to Major, when Jack O’Neill is teleported out of the SGC by Thor into his starship, currently orbiting around Earth, whilst he was in the middle of a, very short – Jack not being big on public speaking – speech.
Thor says that the defeat of Hathor has worried the System Lords, and they are considering attacking Earth. All of them. Thor says that the Asgard are willing to help, but that most of their fleet is unavailable (could this be the first mention of the Replicators?), and that the Asgard are willing to negotiate a truce with the System Lords.
The System Lords are sending representatives to Earth for the negotiations, and O’Neill has been chosen to represent Earth. Goa’uld from different backgrounds to the Egyptian ones, the first time these have really been seen. And a rather tense situation with mortal enemies inside the SGC being treated as guests (and not all the System Lords are exactly on friendly terms either).
