Stargate SG-1 – Avalon: Part 2

“Avalon: Part 2” is episode two of season nine of Stargate SG-1.

At the end of the previous episode, “Avalon: Part 1”, Daniel, Teal’c, Mitchell and Vala had discovered what seemed to be the entrance to Avalon, but unfortunately made a bit of a mess of things and so were trapped in rooms with descending ceilings.

They manage to stop the ceilings and pass the test, which means they are able to pull the sword from the stone. After fighting an armoured knight, and a few other problems, the treasure horde that Vala was looking for appears. And something unusual, as well as details on the civilisation that the Ancients left behind, before they were the Ancients.

The Ancient stones seen in “Citizen Joe” apparently interact with the unusual device. Daniel believes it’s a communication device and it is, of a sort. Vala and Daniel’s consciousnesses are transported to bodies in another galaxy. Bodies belonging to members of a more primitive civilisation, who worship beings called the Ori.

With Anubis being (finally) defeated in “Threads” and the Replicators (finally) defeated in “Reckoning: Part 2”, the Goa’uld System Lords having lost much of their power (with the probable exception of Ba’al) a new enemy is needed. And this episode introduces it.

The story continues in “Origin”.
