“Fascination” is episode ten of season three of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
It’s the Bajoran Festival of Renewal and everyone is looking forward to it. Chief O’Brien’s wife and daughter will be visiting for the first time in months, and he can’t wait for this. Vedek Bareil is arriving on the same shuttle, and Major Kira is looking forward to see him too.
Also on the shuttle is Lwaxana Troi, who is looking forward to seeing Odo again, after taking a shine to him in “The Forsaken”. Odo doesn’t know quite how to deal with her attention though.
Then people start behaving a little oddly. Not all of them, but a few. Jake Sisko becomes infatuated with Major Kira, Dax with Commander Sisko and Vedek Bareil with Dax. This creates more than a few awkward moments.
Sisko suspects an illness, but a check by Doctor Bashir reveals nothing wrong. Then more people start being affected. Obviously something is going on, but what?
