Sanctuary – Veritas

“Veritas” is episode seven of season two of Sanctuary.

This episode opens in the Sanctuary with Will and Declan talking about something. Will seems upset and Declan says that he was found at the docks. Will wants to see him – him being Bigfoot, who is dead in the morgue. They haven’t found who did it yet, but the evidence so far points to Magnus.

Will does not believe this is true, but the bullets that killed Bigfoot came from Magnus’s gun and her coat shows signs of gunshot residue. According to Declan, Bigfoot had contacted him a couple of days before he was killed. Bigfoot said that Magnus was starting to slip mentally, as an illness she had had for years was getting worse. Will says he never noticed any signs of such and, as a trained psychiatrist, he should have.

Magnus is being kept in isolation and has no memory of the past week. She says that she is being set up. With Magnus in this state, Declan is invoking Article 9, where the matter will be put before the other heads of house. The Sanctuary network is sending a triad, three telepaths to investigate the matter by reading Magnus’s mind (one of telepaths, Emma Correia, is played by Erica Cerra, who plays Jo Lupo in Eureka, Alie/Becca in The 100 and has a guest role in Warehouse 13).

Will, Kate and Henry are going to investigate themselves. Will and Kate head to the crime scene whilst Henry, who is more than a little upset by Bigfoot’s death, goes into Magnus’s files. Kate said that she had received emails from Magnus that made no sense and that the latter claimed never to have sent.

According to the telepaths, Magnus’s mind is chaotic and impossible to read, showing the signs of dementia. Will’s investigation keeps uncovering more evidence that shows Magnus to be guilty and Magnus herself is acting delusional and paranoid, which doesn’t make her appear sane to say the least. Will still suspects that she is being set up, but by who? Matters are not what they seem to be.
