Marvel’s Inhumans – The Gentleman’s Name is Gorgon

“The Gentleman’s Name is Gorgon” is episode six of season one of Marvel’s Inhumans.

Maximus enters the throne room on Attilan, to see Lockjaw teleport everyone in front of him. Maximus starts pleading that he didn’t want this to happen, he wanted a peaceful transition of power. Medusa tells Maximus that Black Bolt is not happy with him. He knows that Maximus is the one who killed their parents. Black Bolt approaches Maximus and is about to speak when Maximus jolts awake on the throne.

Audrey is back to see Lockjaw. She says that his side is swollen again and whatever they are doing – which is teleporting around the island – they should stop. Crystal insists that Lockjaw will be fine; he simply needs some rest. Audrey wants to know how many of them there are, and shouldn’t they be on the register. She takes out her phone to photograph crystal who burns it. Audrey insists that she isn’t afraid of Crystal. Crystal tells her she should be. Audrey leaves, saying that it isn’t over. Dave asks Crystal about her powers, if she can create a waterspout or forest fire. Crystal asks why she would want to do that – then realises, to send a signal to her family. She decides to call lightning, but Dave asks her not to do it near the barn, as he’d rather it remained intact. He suggests heading for a high point.

In the previous episode, “Something Inhuman This Way Comes…”, all the royal family bar Crystal, along with Louise, had finally found each other. Locus died but not before she told them that Crystal was there as well. When asked how Louise found them, she says they left every distinctive energy bursts… tailing off as she realises that Crystal will as well. She heads to check on something.

Medusa wants to know what the plan is against Maximus, as he has the royal guards. Karnak says that his mind is not what it was and doesn’t feel up to making a plan. Gorgon has a plan though – charge in running and screaming and tear everyone to shreds. This has the virtue of simplicity. Medusa would prefer to give Karnak a bit more time to heal. Black Bolt signs that he wants to take down Maximus, but Medusa wants Maximus taken alive.

Louise returns at this point and interrupts. There was another energy burst on the northern part of the island. Louise is also buzzing; she has Locus’ comlink and has been tinkering with it. Auran contacts them. She has Declan and Sammy and will kill them unless they show up. As Locus is dead, Auran tells them she is still at the lab. Black Bolt wants Karnak and Gorgon to go after Auran; he, Louise and Medusa will head to find Crystal. Karnak is still suffering from a loss of confidence.

Maximus has selected more Inhumans to send down to Earth. One of them is Bronaja’s father. Bronaja is worried but his father is excited. Maximus spins some of his usual rubbish to the Inhuman miners he has drafted about how they are working for their freedom. Tibor is concerned but Maximus tells him that his people love him and would do anything for him. Plus, if Black Bolt obliterates the miners it will just make the rest of the citizens hate Black Bolt more.

Tibor was approached by a number of Inhumans who want to take down the false king. Their leader, one of the royal guard, talks to Tibor about getting Maximus alone so he can be killed.

On Earth, the road Louise is on is blocked. She checks the map and Medusa reminded Black Bolt that, when he came to the throne, he promised to be more understanding than any other king. He has to be bigger than Maximus, who must be given a fair trial. Medusa is not protecting Maximus, she is protecting Black Bolt – from himself.

Tibor warns Maximus that he has heard of a plot against him, a plan to make an attempt on his life. Maximus does not believe it, as his people are happy. Tibor tells him they cannot trust the royal guard, they must handle it alone. After Tibor leaves, Maximus has a memory of Gorgon training him, for when he has no guards or Gorgon to protect him. Maximus must be smarter and more cunning. After the session, Maximus grabs a weapon and hits Gorgon in the back. Which, as Karnak says is smarter, more cunning. Training Maximus to be smarter and more cunning may have been a mistake.

The miners have arrived at the lab and Auran is telling them that the royals do not know they are there. Auran and the others do not seem to have a lot of respect for the newcomers. Declan and Sammy are tied up, but Declan speaks to Auran. He asks if she thinks she will keep healing, and if she has ever had a DNA test before. For her telomeres are getting shorter. She will not be able to regenerate forever. One day she will die. Not a prospect Auran appears to be enthused about.

Dave and Crystal have reached a high point on the island and Crystal starts calling lightning. Louise is stopping the car again, and asks Medusa why they live on the Moon. Medusa explains that they used to live on Earth for generations. Black Bolt signs that they had to leave because of Louise. Not her specifically, but humans. What humans do not understand, they attack, so the Inhumans left for their own safety, and that of the humans. Lightning strikes and Louise comments that that’s weird but continues. When it strikes again at the same spot, Black Bolt and Medusa realise it’s Crystal.

Gorgon and Karnak do not know there are other Inhumans at the lab. However, Auran and the others do not know that Karnak’s powers are not working properly. So he can do something really stupid and it will be assumed to be part of a plan. Things still do not go as well as they could. Dave’s friend Audrey causes problems too. In Attilan, Maximus may be losing it a bit. He’s still scheming and planning and outthinking others, but it’s becoming clearer that he isn’t doing anything for the benefit of others, but for the benefit of Maximus.
