Humans – Episode #2.4

“Episode #2.4” is episode four of season two of Humans.

Hester is remembering her job and how Synths were treated on it – which wasn’t very well. She, Max and Leo are listening in on the police band, tracking down new Synths that have become conscious. Hester has an idea about tracking the conscious Synths to where they are being taken, an idea which Max doesn’t like, but Leo goes ahead with, resulting in him and Hester discovering that Quarlia is behind the abduction of the newly intelligent Synths.

Pete believes that the reports that the police are getting are proof that other Synths are becoming conscious. Karen is kind of in denial about this, although she probably admits that’s true. Pete’s investigation leads him into a very dangerous direction, but it seems that he has also stumbled upon something new.

In the previous episode, “#2.3”, Mia/Anita had revealed her true feelings to Ed, the owner of the cafe where she works, and it seems that he has accepted them. Although they were spied upon by Ed’s friend, Danny; something they don’t know. Since then, they have become intimate, but Ed needs money to keep his mother in the nursing home – which may lead him to make a potentially unfortunate decision.

The Hawkings are concerned about how Sophie is behaving, and call in a professional for help. As could be guessed, after seeing similar behaviour with a girl from Toby’s school, Sophie is pretending she is a Synth. The elder Hawkins are rather concerned.

Mattie successfully uploaded the intelligence code into Odi, Dr. Millican’s old Synth.  Odi is now conscious, but he is still physically impaired. Joe wants her help in finding out just why he was fired, and stumbles across something – possibly connected to what Pete found out earlier.

Niska’s testing has not been going well, so Laura first has her disguise her distinctive Synth eyes with coloured contacts. Then she brings in Astrid, the girl from Berlin whom Niska had a relationship with in “#2.1”. Astrid, of course, didn’t know that Niska is a Synth, but this is revealed, possibly to provoke a more emotional response from Niska or to show that a human considered Niska to be human.

Milo Khory is discussing Dr. Morrow’s plans with her.
