“Bad Timing” is episode twenty two of season four of Farscape and the final episode.
The ‘Previously on Farscape’ segment at the beginning of the episode looks to have a, very, brief clip from every single prior episode. Now, Grayza’s former command carrier has hailed Moya, with instructions to turn over Scorpius, unharmed. They also have some worrying news. In the previous episode, “We’re So Screwed: La Bomba”, Crichton had nuked the Scarrans special plant, whose consumption is apparently what makes them intelligent, at Scorpius’s urging. Prior to doing so, and before he knew how important it was, he had inadvertently revealed that the plant was common on Earth.
The Scarrans are now heading to Earth. This being the only way they can remain intelligent. Scorpius suggests that Earth ally with the Peacekeepers. Crichton intends to destroy the wormhole leading there instead.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger. Which is unfortunate, because the series was cancelled. Fortunately, a mini series, The Peacekeeper Wars, was done to tidy up at least some of the loose ends. Unfortunately, PickTV, in their usual wisdom in such matters (showing Battlestar Galactica but not the mini-series first and showing the two Stargate SG-1 feature length episodes, The Ark of Truth and Continuum, at a point that had no connection to where the series was at) haven’t shown it. Fortunately, I have seen it – it was actually the first Farscape episode I watched in its entirety. Unfortunately, that was quite a few years ago now. Fortunately, Pick did decide to show it again, and not a terribly long time after the series finished. Immediately after would have been better, but there you go.
