“Designate This” is episode one of season two of Dark Angel.
At the end of the season one finale, “…and Jesus Brought a Casserole”, Max had been fatally shot by one of the X7s. In order to save her life, Zack had sacrificed himself so that she could get his heart, making her death less than permanent.
Now, it’s 2020. Max is alive, although Logan believes she isn’t, having seen her die (a reasonable assumption on his part), and is now a prisoner of Manticore and Dr. Renfro. She has been psychologically tortured in order to make her a perfect soldier again, but has successfully resisted, although she is playing a part.
Logan, as Eyes Only, is attempting to bring down Manticore permanently.
