Battlestar Galactica – A Disquiet Follows My Soul

“A Disquiet Follows My Soul” is episode twelve of season four of the new Battlestar Galactica.

Admiral Adam wakes up and gets ready for his day. In sickbay, Dr Cottle and medic Ishay, are using the ultrasound to show Caprica Six and Tigh the baby she was revealed to be having in “Sine Qua Non”. Caprica Six says this is the future of the Cylon race. No Cylon-Cylon pairing has ever produced a child before. Their race can survive without resurrection. Ishay doesn’t seem happy about this. She then heads to see Gaeta, who isn’t happy; he says that at least the Cylons are being taken care of. Ishay promises he will be, then Tyrol enters with Nicky who’s urinating blood.

On Colonial One, the admiral, Apollo and Tom Zarek are giving a press conference. Adama is avoiding answering questions. Zarek responds with a ‘No comment’ to a question about a permanent alliance with the Cylons. As for President Roslin, Apollo says she’s resting comfortably on Galactica. When asked if there’s any information on the fifth Cylon, Apollo says they believe they are dead. Yes, they’re sure she – in the previous episode, “Sometimes a Great Notion”, Ellen Tigh was revealed to be the last – died some time ago. Saying ‘she’ was a mistake, though.

Afterwards, Zarek says that a permanent alliance with the Cylons is out of the question. He’s told that’s Roslin’s call. Zarek asks where she is; she dropped out of sight when the prophecies about Earth turned to garbage. And if they try shoving an alliance with the Cylons down their throat, there will be consequences. Adama thanks him; it makes it easier to know who’s responsible if there’s an unfortunate incident.

The admiral meets with Tigh, Tyrol, Gaeta and Helo. Tyrol is saying we, meaning the Cylons, would rather take their chances with the fleet than Cavil. They should upgrade the jump drives with Cylon tech. Apollo says they’ll need the Quorum to sign off. And to use Galactica personnel. Tyrol says they need Cylons; he barely understands the technology. Tyrol is losing track of who ‘they’ and ‘we’ are and Tigh calls him up on it. Cylon jump drives will triple their ability and increase their chances of finding a habitable planet. Gaeta wants to know what the catch is. The catch is the Cylons want to be part of the fleet. Full citizens with a seat on the Quorum. The admiral’s oath will make him protect them like everyone else. Tyrol convinced the other Cylons Adama takes this sort of thing seriously. Adama understands – Gaeta is upset – but this is a political decision.

Cottle and Ishay are telling Tyrol that his son has kidney problems. Tyrol asks if he should start stockpiling blood. His son is half Cylon after all. Ishay says they have to tell him. Cottle takes Tyrol aside. Nicky is full human. Cally found out she was pregnant just before she and Tyrol got married and wasn’t sure Tyrol was the father. She was going to terminate, then decided not to. The asked for a paternity test. The father doesn’t know either. Cottle will tell him, then he and Tyrol will have to work it out on their own.

Gaeta is really not happy about what’s being done about the Cylons. He’s not the only one, which means trouble is coming. President Roslin has given up on a number of things and the situation in the fleet is starting to spiral out of control.
