The Flash – Elongated Journey Into Night

“Elongated Journey Into Night” is episode four of season four of The Flash.

Cisco is telling Gypsy that he thinks it’s time in the relationship for him to say those three words. ‘What’s your name?’ She won’t say. Gypsy leaves the room briefly, then a man breaches in and tells Cisco he’s dead, attacking him with power blasts. When Gypsy returns, it’s revealed this is her father.

Mayor Bellows is at CCPD for his re-election campaign. Barry and Joe talk about the 12 metas they discovered were created in the previous episode, “Luck Be a Lady”. 900 people rode that bus that day, and the bus driver is dead. Drowned in his bathtub. Barry thinks Harry is right; all the events are connected and the creation of the metas was planned by someone. He also thinks Joe is glowing.

At S.T.A.R. Labs Barry and Joe nearly get attacked by Gypsy’s father. Cisco arrives and explains that this is Breacher and who he is. He also told Breacher that Barry is Cisco’s personal assistant. Breacher respects Joe for being an officer. Though he thinks Harry looks like someone Breacher sent Gypsy to kill. When Breacher has gone, Harry advises Cisco to take Breacher out for coffee.

Iris is bringing up the coroner’s report on the dead bus driver. There were no signs of foul play. She shows his personal possessions. Which include an IOU from Ralph Dibny, private investigator. A dirty cop, according to Barry and Joe. And the IOU is dated the same day Barry came out of the Speed Force.

Ralph is meeting with a client and Barry and Joe arrive just after she storms out after slapping Ralph. They ask Ralph if he was on the bus. He wants to know what the information is worth. Ralph is told he as exposed to a dangerous substance and he says he wasn’t on it. Two men enter his office after Joe and Barry leave, and end up dangling Ralph from the roof. And his legs stretch. Joe and Barry walk past outside as this happens. It seems Ralph was on the bus.

Ralph is taken to S.T.A.R. Labs, his legs ragging behind him. Caitlin accidentally stretches Ralph’s arm, then knocks over some powder, which makes Ralph sneeze and his face stretches.

Cisco is with Gypsy and Breacher at Jitters. Breacher tells Gypsy he’ll do anything for her whilst Cisco is away, then when Cisco returns and Gypsy leaves, tells Cisco he’s going to hunt him for 24 hours so that Gypsy will be free of Cisco. Yes, he hunted Gypsy’s last boyfriend. No, Breacher doesn’t know where he is, because he doesn’t know where people go when they die.

Caitlin thinks she can stabilise Ralph’s cells with some of his pre-meta DNA. Barry, however, is utterly convinced that Ralph is a bad guy. People don’t change. And Caitlin is a good person; Ralph is not.

Cisco has his own problems with being hunted by Breacher. Barry is absolutely convinced that Ralph is up to no good and doesn’t deserve any benefit of the doubt. Caitlin may have problems of her own coming back to haunt her.
