The 100 – The Blood of Sanctum

“The Blood of Sanctum” is episode thirteen of season six of The 100 and the season finale.

In the previous episode, “Adjustment Protocol”, Russell threw weaponised Red Sun toxin into the crowd as he and the Primes left for Eligius III. Russell, Simone – in Abby’s body – and Clarke had Raven, Madi and Gaia tied up with guns pointed at their heads as the airlock doors open. Indra told everyone on her side to stand down.

Russell informs them they are going to planet Beta, a 20-year journey. Clarke passes Becca’s notes to Gaia but, as soon as Madi’s gag is removed, she shouts for her people to attack. Those that do are cut down. Clark knocks Madi out to stop Simone from shooting her. After the Primes and their guards have left, Gaia passes the notes to Raven and Indra demands an explanation.

Russell tells the other Primes that devotion like that just showed is dangerous. One is concerned about Beta not being inhabitable. Russell says they will work through the list until they find one. With no signal-sucking Anomaly, they can check the mind drives from orbit. He reminds them they used to be explorers. Simone wants to kill Madi; Russell says they can’t, not if they want the others to serve them. In that case, Simone wants to wipe the minds of everyone in cryo, and keep them until they need hosts. Russell agrees.

Bellamy and the others are trapped inside at Sanctum as the crowd is trying to get in. Bellamy says they will knock everyone out as they enter. Eventually, they will stop. And promptly do. Because gas is then dropped in. They wake up as captives. The unbelievers are being purged. Layla refuses to acknowledge the divinity of the Primes and gets her throat cut. Jackson is being given the blood of Sanctum next, and Bellamy nods at him to drink. Then Murphy and Emori come in; the true believers think they are Primes.

They are told that the flock is being purified, by the orders of Russell Prime. Murphy tells them Russell Prime has abandoned them. He wants the Earth people taking to the palace. On the way out, a man kisses Murphy; it seems the Prime he is pretending to be had a relationship he didn’t know about. Oops. On the way back to the palace, they run into problems and have to run for it, where Gabriel lets them in.

On the ship, Simone is about to wipe the minds of the sleepers when Clarke starts questioning her. And finds out that Russell destroyed Abby’s neural mesh. This results in Russell and Simone discovering that their daughter is dead as Clarke flees. Simone will track the mind drive; she wants Madi using as leverage.

Raven is working on Madi. Indra saw Sheidheda when she was a girl; a monster like that cannot be allowed to rule Wonkru. Gaia says if the procedure fails, she will kill Madi herself. Raven suggest they not fail. She thinks she can dump Sheidheda onto another computer, then kill him. Then discovers a kill code. Raven can kill Sheidheda – but it will destroy the Flame too. Gaia says to do it, but Russell comes for Madi before they can finish.

Simone and her guards find Clarke, securing herself in front of an airlock. She tells them they will all float. Simone points a gun at the others and claims to be Abby. She’s lying. Everyone but Clarke floats., and Russell sees this. He orders Madi’s gag be removed so that Clarke can hear it as he kills her. But Sheidheda is the one in charge of Madi’s body, and promises him a better revenge.

Jordan is being adjusted as the others arrive. The adjuster hides, then tries to attack but is clotheslined by Octavia. She can understand why the inhabitants of Sanctum don’t want to believe the truth. Gabriel wants help freeing his people, but Murphy replied they stayed to save their friends and this is done. It’s not their fight now. Everyone seems to agree, but Octavia calls on Gabriel to wait as he heads out. She won’t let him do this alone. And Bellamy agrees to come with her. As does Echo, then Emori. Eventually, Murphy has to as well, because they need Daniel Prime. Murphy tells Gabriel to bring him back if he dies. Gabriel says he won’t. Murphy feels he could at least have lied about that.

Many things are coming to a head, but one isn’t. And that’s the Anomaly. The strange thing that has been lurking, unexplained and unexplainable, at the edge of everything. No surprise, then, that this episode ends in a cliff-hanger related to the Anomaly, leading into the seventh and final season and “From the Ashes”.
