“Moebius: Part 1” is episode nineteen of season eight of Stargate SG-1.
Things are finally looking up. The Replicators seem to have been finally defeated in “Reckoning: Part 2”. Anubis, after the events of the previous episode, “Threads”, seems to be gone too, as Oma Desala, the Ancient who Ascended him in the first place, seems to have removed him. Without their Jaffa armies, the remaining Goa’uld System Lords are not as dangerous either.
Then, Daniel gets a phone call saying that Catherine Langford, who originally recruited him to the stargate programme back in the original movie, has died. At the funeral, Catherine’s niece gives him the Ra medallion that she originally gave him, and there are apparently some other things too. Lots of other things as it turns out – her entire collection. Daniel finds something that suggests there may be a zero point module somewhere, but they can’t find it. Daniel suggests going back to Giza in 3000 BC using the time machine discovered in “It’s Good To Be King” – which does look like a Puddlejumper now we can see it fully – to get it. A ZPM will allow the Antarctic outpost to be fully powered and open a wormhole to Atlantis.
It will be necessary to minimise interaction to prevent any problems. You just know something is going to go wrong. Getting the ZPM is easy. Getting back… not so much.
The rest of the episode takes place back in the present, a different present, where none of the team work for SGC as SGC doesn’t actually exist. Oops.
The story concludes in “Moebius: Part 2”.
