“Family” is episode eight of season two of Stargate SG-1.
In the season one episode “Bloodlines” Teal’c’s son Rya’c, as well as Master Bra’tac, were introduced.
Stargate Command thought that Apophis, and Klorel, had been killed when their pyramid ships were destroyed in the episode “The Serpent’s Lair”. That would be too easy.
Bra’tac has come through the gate with news that Apophis and Klorel had escaped the destruction of their ships using the stargate (those things do make it easy to escape from certain death), and that Apophis has now kidnapped Rya’c.
When there’s an unscheduled activation, a bunch of troops run into the gate room with guns guarding the gate. They also stand in front a launcher with two missiles on it, blocking its view of the gate, which doesn’t strike me as being that safe, or tactically sound. You really don’t want to be blocking the sightliness between your major defensive weapon and any potential enemy with your own body. Or those of your troops.
