“Children of the Gods: Part 2” is episode two of season one of Stargate SG-1.
This episode continues the story from “Part 1”. Unknown invaders had activated the stargate and attacked Earth, and Colonel O’Neill was brought out of retirement. He revealed that the Abydos stargate hadn’t been destroyed and that Dr. Jackson was still alive.
O’Neill led a team through the stargate, and Daniel told him that the attackers hadn’t come from there, and so must have come from somewhere else in the stargate network, a network that previously hadn’t been known to exist. It turns out that the stargates have many, many possible destinations; quite logical, when you think about it, as there are many different combinations. Then the attackers struck at Abydos, killing many and kidnapping Daniel’s wife amongst others.
General Hammond announces that teams are being formed to explore the stargate system. Nine teams in total are being formed, the first is O’Neill’s – SG-1. His team and SG-2 are first going to the destination the unknown attackers came from.
At this point, people going through the stargates are still coming out covered in frost and at high velocity, just as they did in the film. I wonder when it was that they stopped that?
