“Camelot” is episode twenty of season nine of Stargate SG-1 and the season finale.
In the previous episode, “Crusade”, Vala informed the SGC that the Ori had nearly finished their fleet – which meant that they probably had a working supergate. Almost everyone is looking for the gate, as it’s pretty difficult to stop the Ori from coming through it if it’s location isn’t known, but SG-1 are going to the gate address found in “Arthur’s Mantle” to see if they can find the weapon that Merlin had created that should be able to destroy Ascended beings.
SG-1 are on the planet whose address they found, in a medieval setting. In a nearby village, they find a sword. In a stone. Again. The village is called Camelot, in case you couldn’t guess from the title. The people there are expecting Arthur’s return. Merlin is not generally spoken of, but he had a library there. The library, Merlin’s sanctuary, is guarded by the Black Knight. They may have to defeat the Black Knight, if he’s real (“‘Tis but a scratch!”).
Probably the biggest space battle in SG-1 to date in this episode.
Like season eight, this one only had twenty episodes too. A cliffhanger ending to the season, as the story continues in “Flesh and Blood”, the first episode of the tenth and final season.
