“Brief Candle” is episode eight of season one of Stargate SG-1.
SG-1 exit through the stargate into what appears to be some sort of Greek building, where they surprise a couple, of which the wife is just about to give birth. As they have scared the midwife off, they have to help deliver a child and Daniel is the only one of the team who has any experience at this.
They are invited to a celebration in the settlement, where the residents are all surprisingly healthy, and young.
Colonel O’Neill is offered some food, and is affected in some way. The next day they discover that the population is ageing at an incredible rate – something like 250 times normal – and now O’Neill is too, but even faster, from either the cake or the physical contact that followed. So he hasn’t got long to live before he prematurely dies of old age.
They really aren’t any good at doing make-up to make people looking genuinely older than they are; it always looks pretty fake. I wonder why.
