Humans – Episode #2.7

“Episode #2.7” is episode seven of season two of Humans.

In the previous episode, “#2.6”, Mia had met up again with Leo and Hester whilst Mattie was there. Mattie, not exactly trusting the increasingly scary Hester, decided not to tell Leo that she is had cracked the code that makes Synths intelligent, which could make them all intelligent. Mia, feeling – rather justifiably – betrayed by humans following Ed’s actions, told Leo and Hester what Mattie has managed. They now want the code, and Hester at least is willing to use force to get it. The other two aren’t – they aren’t as bad as Hester, even with Mia’s disillusionment.

Mia thinks that humans need to fear the Synths, and has an idea for getting into the Silo (one of the scientists is having second thoughts about their actions, if the Synths really are intelligent). She will get herself taken in by the Silo’s personnel as a newly intelligent Synth. This does not go as planned.

Karen has bonded with the Seraphim, and named him Sam. He is not intelligent, only being a Synth child, not a conscious one. This does lead to a funny moment when Karen asks Sam to check her pulse, he discovers she doesn’t have one, concludes that Karen is dead and offers commiserations.

Sophie’s Synthie behaviour is proving worrying to the rest of the family, and Toby gets his Synthie friend Renie to speak to her. Which has an effect on Renie herself – it seemed previously that she had become a Synthie because of real life issues. Odi has, essentially, killed himself, deleting his consciousness. He wasn’t able to cope with his lack of purpose.

Dr. Morrow had got a phone number for Leo from one of the captured Synths, and traced it to fairly close to the facility. Which she concludes is probably not a coincidence. Karen visits Morrow, and reveals who, and what, she really is. She is tired of being a machine, and wants to be truly human – Morrow may be able to help her transfer her consciousness.

To try and stop Leo, Laura goes and finds Niska by asking Pete about where her girlfriend, Astrid, is living, as she hasn’t left the country. Mattie is going to find Max and see if he can speak to Leo – although in the previous episode, Hester had deceived Max, making him think Leo was happy with her actions.
