“The Seed” is episode two of season five of Stargate: Atlantis.
When the clone of Carson Beckett was discovered in “The Kindred: Part 2” it looked like his appearance was going to be brief, as he had to be put in stasis before he died. Now, following the acquisition of Michael’s medical data in “The Last Man”, Dr Keller thinks she may be able to recreate the treatment he was undergoing.
Meanwhile, following the events of the previous episode, “Search and Rescue”, Richard Woolsey has replaced Colonel Carter as the commander of Atlantis.
Shortly after Beckett is revived and treated, Dr Keller falls victim to some sort of alien organism. Dr Beckett believes he has seen something similar before in Michael’s labs, making him the best qualified to deal with it, even though he is not that well himself, as the organism starts to take over Atlantis itself.
Mr. Woolsey learns about how rules are not always useful.
