“Rising: Part 1” is episode one of season one of Stargate: Atlantis.
At the Ancient outpost in Antarctica discovered in “Lost City: Part 2”, Dr Rodney McKay, who was first seen annoying Sam in “48 Hours”, along with Daniel, have discovered the Ancients’ lost city of Atlantis. Trouble is, to power the gate to get there will require a Zero Point Module, as the gate is in another galaxy, the Pegasus Galaxy – and the only ZPM they have is powering the outpost itself, which is used to defend the planet.
O’Neill is convinced to set up a gate using the ZPM, and the expedition sets off. Unfortunately, when they get there, the city is underwater, protected by a forcefield – and the power is failing. The Ancients had apparently fled the city after being attacked by a dangerous enemy. An expedition is sent through the gate to another planet to look for somewhere to flee to if needed, and find out about a dangerous enemy called the Wraith. Could the Wraith be the same enemy who defeated the Ancients?
This episode looks to be set after Dr Weir retired from commanding the SGC in “New Order: Part 2”. Although the actress who plays her has changed.
