“Q-Less” is episode seven of season one of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Lieutenant Dax returns from the Gamma Quadrant to DS9 in a runabout, but it has been drained of all its power. When they manage to get them out of the craft, it turns out that they have picked up someone wanting to return to Earth – a human woman.
The woman is Vash, who was encountered first in The Next Generation episode “Captain’s Holiday” and last seen in “Qpid”, when she had gone off travelling with Q. Now she has returned, as she’s tired of travelling with Q – who has followed her anyway.
Shortly after the runabout arrives, the entire station starts suffering from power problems, which eventually put it in danger. Vash, meanwhile, teams up with Quark to sell some artefacts she picked up in the Gamma Quadrant. It seems that Q may be being childish about Vash leaving him – but Sisko thinks that what’s happening to the station isn’t down to him. There is a connection between Vash’s return and the problems though.
