“F… the Big Chiller” is episode ten of season one of Powers and the season finale.
In the previous episode, “Level 13”, Walker had double-crossed Johnny Royalle in order to arrest him. However, after he did that, he planned to release Wolfe (temporarily at least anyway) so that he could get his powers back. The others had forestalled that by moving Wolfe from Level 9 to Level 13. Unfortunately, Simons went to Level 13 and, after hearing about Johnny’s capture, released Wolfe. Because Simons got his power from Sway, Wolfe was able to suck him dry, which killed Simons and gave Wolfe a lot of power.
‘Big Bad’ Wolfe is now out of the Shaft. He let Walker and the others live, the former because he basically has no powers, and has told Walker to bring Johnny, as Wolfe wants a word with the two of them. Which doesn’t sound at all worrying.
On exiting the Shaft, they find a lot of death and destruction. Of the four who originally captured Wolfe, Walker has no power, Olympia is dead and Triphammer is at least a borderline alcoholic.
There are at least 100 Powers kids who took Sway, so Triphammer takes one of the portable Drainer prototypes after Wolfe. Walker wants to go after him, but no-one else agrees. Everyone does agree that Wolfe has to die though. Both Triphammer and Zora try to stop Wolfe, but both fail. So Walker convinces Pilgrim to help him stop Wolfe – and they need Royalle’s help too.
The first person Wolfe finds is Calista, but oddly, he doesn’t drain her. She took Sway and survived in “You Are Not It” so she presumably is a Power. Wolfe just wants a chat with her, as he senses she is different. Calista says that she feels an emptiness and hunger inside her, which she can’t fill. Something that sounds disturbingly like Wolfe himself.
Wolfe is not the only focus of this episode. A lesser focus is Krispin (who still seems a bit conflicted), Chaotic Chick, who thinks that everything to do with Powers is show, and plans to use Krispin’s mother’s laptop to get the information she needs. Information to really use Kaotic Chic against Powers.
Quite a few setups for the next series.
