Continuum – Second Thoughts

“Second Thoughts” is episode three of season two of Continuum.

In the previous episode, “Split Second”, Sonya set things up so that Travis would be moved from prison and sent people after the transport. Even though there was a dummy transport, she still knew which one to take. However, another force intervened and took Travis – a force led by Garza. If Garza didn’t trust Valentine before it’s highly doubtful she will now she knows that Sonya was the one who tried to kill him. The Liber8 cell now seems down to two groups of two; what effect this will have will be interesting. Alec is seriously considering Kellog’s proposal to bankroll him, after his attempt to improve the software of the company he had just started working for wasn’t met with joy. Kiera thinks that Gardener may have leaked the information on Travis’ transport to Liber8 to discredit her and Carlos. Gardener seems to think she’s working for Liber8, and could be trying to get rid of her because of this. Or is this just a ploy? It seems in the future, older Alec downloaded information into Kiera’s CMR.

Once again opening in the future, Kiera is taking a taxi to a less than salubrious part of town. She’s following a younger girl who is buying drugs – her younger sister as it happens. The sister is not appreciative of her help.

In the present (past), Lucas and Sonya are going to meet with the Coalition Kings, a group they helped by setting up their foes for the killing of the mayor in “Second Chances”. Lucas is not terribly happy to be working with a biker gang (nor is Sonya for that matter). Then Travis shows up at the meet and shoots one of the Kings. That’s only the first attack; Travis and the Kings continue to clash.

In “Endtime”, Kiera discovered a man who was also from the future it seemed, Jason, who is also a bit crazy. He turns up at the police asking for Kiera. He claims he has important information to share with her. Kiera is not there, so he passes on the information – which is just ‘Freelancers.’

Alec is being offered a new drug, Flash, by his friend Ricky – it looks kind of similar to the ones Kiera destroyed in the future. They are dripped in the eye and supposedly improve your memory of the past They aren’t quite as wonderful as his friend thinks, as the latter crashes the car. Kiera ends up giving him a ride home. The drug is apparently the same as the one from the future, but under a different name. It was originally a medicinal drug, but got out onto the street. Someone is making it using knowledge from the future; Kiera thinks Sonya is making it and feeding it to the Coalition Kings. Although Kellog is another suspect, but he says that he’s involved with Alec instead. The Flash is causing a lot of deaths and there’s a gang war brewing in the city. During one confrontation, Kiera is helped by a metal table that seems unrealistically bulletproof.

Julian is being visited in prison by Alec’s mother, who is bringing him books and his father’s journals. Kagame’s destruction of the building revealed a secret meeting between drug company executives, a meeting for suppressing cures to illnesses. The Coalition Kings are also going to help protect Julian inside.

According to Jason, the Freelancers are in the city and are after him. He says that they’ve been interfering with the timeline for years, every time there is a serious leap in technology, and they want to kill him because he knows about them. He sounds crazy (he is for that matter) but that doesn’t mean he’s wrong.
