“Tailspin” is episode four of season three of Manifest.
Ben wakes from a dream about the plane exploding, two months after the previous episode, “Wingman”. His hand is glowing and he sends Saanvi a message. He tells her it’s happening again and feels the tailfin calling him. He needs to see it again.
Ben is videochatting with Grace and telling her. Vance is sending a car. Olive comes in; she’s skipping prom. Then the car arrives. Ben is taken to a facility and Saanvi arrives as well. Vance greets them both; he’s annoyed that Ben interfered.
Inside, Vance explains that this is the 828 investigation and he’s in charge. And he was negotiating his own release when Ben nearly caused an international incident. Saanvi tells them to stop bickering. Inside, they have the pieces of Flight 828 after it blew up.
Michaela is at home with Beverley who is freaking out when Zeke comes down. He looks at Beverley, and something happens. He sees himself, then takes a photo of the fridge and talks Beverley down. Zeke tells Michaela it wasn’t a calling. He experienced Beverley’s feelings.
Jared is speaking to Sarah, the major’s daughter, about her mother’s disappearance. Srah remembers that sometimes her mother would take the long way home through a park.
Baylor wakes from a dream about him, Pete and Jephers running as a digital clock counts down. He wakes up and Jephers coughs up water.
Angelina is visiting Pete when he has a calling. She reassures him she’s there because she chooses to be, and his expiration date is in less than a week. Pete says there’s nothing he can do inside.
Ben and Saanvi are introduced to the head of research, Dr Gupta. She’s less than happy they are there. Ben is worried about the major; Vance tells him not to be. Ben wants to see the tailfin, and hides his glowing hand. Vance needs to show him something first.
Angelina arrives at Michael and Zeke’s and explains about Pete’s calling and how he can’t follow it in jail. Michaela thinks they could follow it for him.
Drea speaks to Jared; he says he’s following up on the major’s disappearance because Sarah deserves an answer. He’s found a noise complaint about a sanitation truck, and at that time and place there should have been more than one.
Michaela and Zeke head to see Pete and convince him to talk. Pete explains what he saw. The clock was from his high school football field; he used to practice there until Coach Hannity kicked him off the team.
Angelina is talking to Olive. Angelina’s parents wouldn’t let her go to prom. Olive is missing hers because TJ isn’t there. Angelina suggests that TJ is spending the time now for a happily ever after later. Olive wants to make sure he survives, and Angelina offers to help her research.
Michaela and Zeke speak to Hannity. It seems Pete was kicked off the team for dealing drugs after a teammate died and spent some time in juvie. Baylor is watching them speak.
Michalea and Zeke are following Pete’s calling and Ben and Saanvi are at the 828 investigation; Ben wants to discover what called him there. And the tailfin found off Cuba is the same one that used to be stored there.
