“Power Hour” is episode three of season four of Continuum.
In the previous episode, “Rush Hour”, Emily was successfully rescued from the hands of Kellog’s hired guns. Who didn’t come out of it too well. Garza and Travis tried to kill Kellog (largely at Curtis’ urging it seems), but, as they were still negotiating over Emily, Kiera saved him and Travis was captured. Garza snuck into Kiera’s car and wanted to rescue Travis, but she was convinced instead to go back with the others. Kiera, Alec, Carlos, Jason, Lucas and Garza are now roughly on the same side (with Brad still with the future soldiers), but Emily has decided to leave so that no one else uses her against Alec (Emily had also asked Jason an obvious question – is she his mother – but didn’t get a coherent answer).
Curtis met with Kellog – who he did try to have killed – but he seems to want something from him. Quite what is going on at the moment isn’t clear. Kellog has also been asked by Future Kellog to get supplies for the soldiers who were sent back, but Future Kellog isn’t telling Present Kellog what is going on.
This episode opens with Carlos talking to Travis who is in a cell. Carlos says that Liber8 hasn’t really improved matters. Kiera enters and Travis says that he will be released soon; Kiera asks for him to be released into her custody so that Travis, a soldier, can help deal with Kellog’s future soldiers. Carlos is not pleased with this idea. He doesn’t really trust Brad (which Travis actually agrees with) and points out that they are a police department.
Brad is with the other soldiers, but one of them doesn’t trust him either. The soldiers appear to be building something, with help from Piron workers. One of them is elsewhere approaches Kellog on the street and disables his bodyguards – not that Kellog knows who she is – and introduces herself as his new bodyguard. Kiera has met her before, and their next meeting is not entirely friendly.
Alec and Lucas are constructively playing classic computer games. Alec is losing and Julian is not being supportive. Julian isn’t looking forward to being the bad guy, one who kills tens of thousands. Lucas doesn’t provide sympathy to either, and tells them to change their destiny. As a result of which, Julian throws Theseus’ manifesto on the fire. Which, as it turns out, doesn’t end the matter.
Kellog is called in to the police, and arrives along with Dillon and his new bodyguard. Kellog issues a bunch of threats regarding funding and what he knows about various people. He wasn’t going to be arrested, but he definitely isn’t making friends. Alec wants to officially work for the police, taking over for the deceased Betty. He could get a better job, but really wants to stick it to Kellog, and the police is the way to do it. Immediately after, news of a theft of some rather unusual items crops up; items which aren’t really sellable, but might be useful for the future soldiers. For whatever they are building. Both Kiera and Carlos want Alec to do things for each before the other. Kiera also wants to know what the future soldiers are building.
Just what is Curtis up to? He seems to be interfering with several different people. Possibly he’s acting on behalf of the Traveller, but what is their ultimate aim?
