Batwoman – It’s Best You Stop Digging

“It’s Best You Stop Digging” is episode seven of season two of Batwoman.

In the Batcave, Luke and Mary are treating Ryan’s Kryptonite wound when Ryan’s iris goes green and she has a vision of killing Alice. Luke asks what happened. Mary is pretty sure the Kryptonite entered Ryan’s brain.

Tatiana has arrived to collect Ocean’s body, as Alice called Safiyah in the previous episode, “Do Not Resuscitate”, to say she’d killed Ocean. Tatiana didn’t think Alice would do it. Alice didn’t; that’s not Ocean. Alice knocks Tatiana out.

Sophie tis telling Commander Kane that she wouldn’t have traded the map for Alice if she’d known she was going to hand it over to a gang of thugs. Kane has discovered Rogers, Aaron’s doctor, known to carry out some off the grid experiments, and traced him to a Hamilton Dynamics company.

Tatiana wakes and Alice asks her why she and Ocean have memories of each other. Tatiana says it’s because they were erased. Alice knows that. But why? What made Alice a threat? Tatiana says that to understand why Alice was a threat, she had to understand her appeal. She and Safiyah had a common enemy in Kathryn Hamilton. After Kathryn burnt Safiyah, she sent a team to steal a yacht she owned. And found Alice onboard. Tatiana wanted to kill Alice but Safiyah thought she was special. Because Alice did the one thing Safiyah never could; escape. Safiyah considers herself a prisoner of Coryana. Safiyah wanted Alice to be a soldier, but she needed discipline and training, and Ocean could give that. Safiyah wanted Alice and Alice wanted Ocean.

Mary tells Luke that Sophie has said Kane is assembling a team to get the map. Ryan is in no state to suit up. Mary is thinking of asking her father to bring a Desert Rose back. She hasn’t figured out how to put this yet. Ryan suits up and takes the Batmobile anyway.

Tatiana tells Alice that at first no-one noticed Ocean and Alice having feeling for each other. Other than hatred anyway. Ocean suggested to Alice that Kathryn did her family a favour, by making them believe she was dead.

Ryan is hallucinating in the Batmobile. Luke is trying to get hold of her. He knows where she’s going, roughly, and wonders why. Mary says Ryan’s brain isn’t working, so she’s using her heart. Ryan turns up at Angelique’s, as Batwoman, wanting to know where Ocean is. Angelique ends up knocking her off the balcony. Luke and Mary turn up, grab Ryan and have an argument, which Mary wins, over who gets to drive the Batmobile. Back at the Batcave, Mary wants Luke to get supplies; with her clinic shut down, she no longer has them,

Tatiana explains to Alice that Safiyah was in love with Alice. But couldn’t tell her, so shared the secret of the Desert Rose instead. From all appearances, Tatiana didn’t take Safiyah’s feelings for Alice well. Commander Kane discovers that Sophie, too, knew about Mary’s clinic; he’s wondering just who tells him the truth. And Ryan, sure she’s dying, plans to get justice for her mother. By killing Alice. Alice herself finally finds out more about herself, thanks to Tatiana.
