Batwoman – …And Justice for All

“…And Justice for All” is episode fourteen of season two of Batwoman.

In the previous episode, “I’ll Give You a Clue”, Alice realised that ‘Circe’ was actually Kate. She tells Kate who she is when Roman arrives; he’s pleased with Alice’s work. Alice has earned her freedom; she can go. Alice wants to stay in case there are problems. Ronan runs a cosmetic empire; she’ll be fine. And why is Alice still there?

A man is buying Snakebite, which is blue, not red and yellow – the cook made some modifications – when Ryan intervenes. She takes down the dealer then chases the user, ending up in an abandoned church that seems to be a Snakebite den. She finds a woman inside. With eyes that look like they came from a snake. And she’s feeding on a man. Evidently, this is the zombie apocalypse version of Snakebite.

There’s a fundraiser for the community centre at The Hold Up. Luke shows Ryan a piece of news and asks if she’s seen it. Yes; in the flesh. No; this is another case. Luke thinks they should figure this out. Ryan is happy to delegate the zombie apocalypse to the GCPD; black folks and horror don’t mix. Imani comes over and asks about Luke’s mother. Ryan used her breaking her leg as an excuse to cut the night short. Luke gets that, but this was a weird lie.

A man pulls over and gets out some Snakebite. A cop tells him he’s blocking a hydrant but he shoots up there anyway, after the police leave. Then he gets very hungry and his eyes change.

Ryan is asking Luke how Kate dated – terribly – when the police enter. There’s been a noise complaint. And if this is a fundraiser, they need a permit. Ryan is objecting, Luke is trying to calm the situation down and both get arrested.

Sophie arrives later and is told the party is over. She sees the cop writing it up for noise and capacity violation. She’s sure that the CCTV will back this up. The officer asks if she’s accusing him of making a false report. She’d accuse him of more. He threatens to have her removed. She’d like to see him try.

Neither Luke nor Ryan can remember anyone’s phone number. Ryan is going to try the Crows’ hotline and see if they can put her in contact with Sophie. As Sophie is herself brought in. Contact just became a lot easier. And less useful.

The Snakebite user sees a woman and grabs her. Then tells her there’s something wrong; he wants to eat her face off. Run. She does. An officer approaches and calls it in. The user starts walking towards him – then two more dive on the cop and start eating him.

Alice has gone to see Dr Rhyme. She’s thinking of getting a new therapist. And has Rhyme strung from the ceiling. Alice thinks Rhyme could have told her Kate was alive. No; Roman would have tortured her to death. And fixing Kate won’t be easy. Alice wants Rhyme to help Alice not kill her. Find something unique to Kate Kane.

Alice has her father hooked up to an IV, as he came in suffering from Snakebite. He explains he was attacked in his car. Mary counted sixteen track marks, so he continued. Then the Snakebite user comes in asking for help, and fastens himself to a bed. His name is Richard, but they will know him as the guy who will try to eat them alive.

Alice has found a set of keys in a box of memorabilia when Ocean greets her. She ash no time for this, and ends up explaining Kate is alive.

Richard is eating and Alice wants to know what else he took other than Snakebite. Nothing. Mary has found a lot more things in his blood. Richard explains that the new version of Snakebite looked off, but he took it anyway. He wanted to see her. His dead wife; she died in a car crash. And Snakebite lets him do that.

Gotham is being taken over by the Snakebite version of the zombie apocalypse. Which at least isn’t contagious. It could do with Batwoman – who is currently locked up.
