“The Young Lords” is episode eleven of season one of the classic series of Battlestar Galactica.
Starbuck and Boomer are on patrol when they are attacked by four Cylon Raiders. Three are destroyed and the fourth driven off, but Starbuck’s Viper is damaged. Boomer finds him a planet to land on, then heads back to Galactica.
There are Cylons in a castle on the planet; in command is one similar to Lucifer. He’s told about the Colonial Vipers being intercepted and that one is leaving, the other is crippled and entering the atmosphere. He orders a patrol sent out.
Starbuck has crashed and is injured. He tries to flee the Cylon patrol, but they catch up with him.
Baltar is told by Lucifer that the commander of the Attila garrison, Specter, is reporting. Lucifer says Specter is an older model, rather limited in ability. Specter reports they have a Colonial Warrior, though the scouting party has not yet returned.
Starbuck is being carried by a Cylon; the Cylons themselves are being watched by someone on a horse. A horn blows and the Cylons are all taken down easily. By what appear to be children. The leader is a bit older and welcomes Starbuck to Attila.
Tigh, Boomer and Apollo head to see Adama, who seems ill. Tigh says he looks better. Adama disagrees; he looks awful. But he feels better. Adama is told about Starbuck crashing; they want to take a shuttle to get him. In and out fast.
Starbuck is being cared for by a young woman, Miri. There are two boys and a girl, her brothers and sisters, and the older one, Kyle, is her brother and the leader. Starbuck says they are children. Kyle says they are warriors. Their mother was killed and the tin cans pillaged and invaded their castle, slaughtering their people. Kyle’s family attacks the Cylons and do it well. He knows that Starbuck is from the Galactica, having learned it from the Cylons.
Their father was apparently killed by the Cylons, but Kyle isn’t telling the whole truth. Starbuck thinks they should come back to the Galactica with him; Kyle doesn’t seem to agree. A rescue mission is incoming, but the Cylons want Starbuck. Especially as Baltar has been told by Specter that they already have him.
