“The Hub” is episode nine of season four of the new Battlestar Galactica.
The episode begins two days ago, when the Hybrid was plugged back in at the end of “Guess What’s Coming to Dinner” and the base ship jumped out. Roslin is on an empty Galactica with Elosha, who was killed in “Home: Part 1”. Then they come out of jump.
On the base ship, Roslin asks where they are. The Eight is more concerned about why. Gaius offers to talk to the Hybrid and Helo asks if the Hybrid can just do that. And they jump again.
Roslin is back in the vision of Galactica and Elosha says to walk with her. To sickbay, where a dying Roslin is in bed.
They come out of jump again and the Eight says it’s unusual to jump again so quickly. Gaius asks the Hybrid why she’s jumping the ship. The Hybrid says the Six who went amongst the Makers is so more. The Eight realises she means Natalie Faust. Their leader has been hurt or killed; that’s why the Hybrid is panicking. She can’t tell the Hybrid to jump back; she makes her own decisions. And they can’t unplug her again because she’s wired herself into life support. Gaius tells the Hybrid to stop jumping the ship. This seems to work and Gaius is congratulating himself when they jump again.
Cottle, Adama, Apollo and Starbuck are around the dying Roslin’s bed. Elosha tells Roslin her problem is she doesn’t love people. She doesn’t make room for them.
The Eight and Helo are talking. The Hybrid is jumping towards the Hub, but they don’t know which one will take them there. They talk about how to get the Vipers in without being detected, and Eight and Helo getting onto the Hub to try and find D’Anna. She starts massaging Helo’s neck and he says Athena learned to do that. But never did it when he met her. The Eight got curious about Athena, Hera and Helo and accessed Athena’s memories on her last download. It’s getting weirder. The Eight doesn’t want it to be strange. Well, it’s probably too late for that.
Helo finds the president in a Raptor. She’s holding a book, which she puts down. It’s the Raptor that was found by Galactica in the previous episode, “Sine Qua Non”. Helo warns her the mission is risky, but the president says if there’s any chance to end the resurrection of all Cylons forever, she has to take it. And she wants D’Anna brought to her first, not interrogated together. D’Anna knows the identity of the Final Five; it’s a matter of human security.
D’Anna wakes on the Resurrection Hub to find Cavil and Boomer. She says Cavil stated she’d never be woken up again. What changed? Cavil explains the civil war, 12, 4s and 5s against 2s, 6s and 8s. D’Anna’s supporters are working with the humans against the rest in her name. D’Anna asks if Boomer shouldn’t be on the other side. Cavil says she’s his pet Eight; she’s seen the light of reason. Until she sees something shiny, according to D’Anna. Why has she been brought back? To end this shameful war.
Helo and the Eight are briefing the human pilots and the Cylons. The humans are not that happy with the plan, which involves their Vipers being towed by Heavy Raiders, and only released when the Heavy Raiders choose to. The Eight says they’ve put their lives in the hand of a Cylon before; Athena. All these people are pilots like them, and they will be taking out other Cylons just like Athena does. Once the Hub is taken out, all their lives will be at risk. They need to figure out how to work together because they’ll all be dead if they don’t.
Gaius and Roslin are trying to get the Hybrid to talk about the opera house vision, by shouting at her and then arguing with each other. The Hybrid says the Three is online. Accessing data. Loading data. Jump.
They are heading for the Resurrection Hub for what might be the most significant fight. Helo is uncertain about the president’s choice regarding D’Anna and Elosha seems to be trying to get Roslin to be more human. D’Anna herself isn’t feeling very trusting of anyone, human or Cylon.
