“The Unconquerable Man” is episode ten of season three of Andromeda.
Harper and Dylan are collecting the body of Gaheris Rhade, Dylan’s Nietszchean first officer who attacked him in the first episode, “Under the Night”. Harper points out a scar on Rhade’s hand, asking if it’s new. Then, everything goes funny.
A very much alive Rhade is about to destroy the tesseract device that was built in “Ourobouros”, when Beka and Trance tell him not to.
It then goes back to the events of “Under the Night”, only this time Dylan is the one who is killed, not Rhade. Rhade is the one who is trapped in the black hole’s event horizon, eventually to be pulled clear by the Eureka Maru, and he’s the one who tries to rebuild the Systems Commonwealth. He even destroys the Nietszhean fleet like Dylan did in “Angel Dark, Demon Bright”. Rhade is not impressed with how the Nietszcheans have turned out. Justifiably really; for supermen they are really a bunch of squabbling barbarians.
The only problem is that he is not as good at rebuilding things as Dylan was, and the Magog are coming. Many, many Magog.
An alternate reality episode and probably the best one of this season so far.
