“The Pearls, That Were His Eyes” is episode eleven of season one of Andromeda.
The Andromeda Ascendant is heading in to get some supplies. Unfortunately, they are kind of short of currency that is ‘current’ as Dylan puts it, rather than several hundred years out of date. So they’re going to have to sell stuff. Valuables will often stay valuable, but currency that has no intrinsic value tends not to survive the collapse of the government that issued it.
Beka won’t be helping as she has received a distress call from her Uncle Sid (Star Trek‘s John ‘Q’ de Lancie turning up in another science fiction series – he also appeared in Stargate SG-1), a former partner of her father, and heads off to help him. Although he doesn’t need help, having become the boss of one of the largest shipping companies around and one that Beka had been slagging off at the beginning of the episode.
Trance keeps having rather accurate ‘guesses’ about things.
