“Soon the Nearing Vortex” is episode six of season four of Andromeda.
The Andromeda Ascendant encounters a prison ship being attacked by Nietzscheans. The pilot is Telemachus Rhade, the Nietszhean who is the genetic reincarnation of the first officer who betrayed Dylan in “Under the Night”, and who was first encountered in “Home Fires”. The prisoner is their former crewmate, Tyr – who has had a serious haircut. During the attack, Tyr escapes, and it appears that this was all planned.
Tyr has allied with the Collectors. They are after something called the Route of Ages, which will show the user how to get to The Abyss. This, they believe, can be used to defeat The Abyss, as he has been defeated in the past. Try sends a message to Beka, and she goes to see him.
The Collectors seem rather unpleasant people. It seems that they, Tyr, and Dylan all want the same thing – to defeat The Abyss. Their way of doing so does differ.
