“Pitiless as the Sun” is episode four of season two of Andromeda.
Dylan is asked to help a planet whose freighters are being attacked by an unknown enemy. In an about face, he is the one who doesn’t think they should help and Beka is the one who thinks they should. Dylan’s reasoning is that the planet in question is of limited use in stopping a trillion Magog, and even in the days of the Systems Commonwealth was considered to be a xenophobic backwater. However, he is convinced to lend a hand.
Finally, command has been repaired after the damage done to it in “Its Hour Come ‘Round at Last”. Trance agrees to go to the planet to help with their xenophobia. The professor studying her is the actor who played the Smoking Man in The X-Files, William B. Davis, which automatically makes him seem dubious. She seems to reveal some more about herself – which, if true, means that she is neither as young nor as innocent as she seems.
