“A Bright New Day” is episode three of season one of the new V.
Chad is reporting on how the Vs have started getting US visas. He’s told that he helped make this day happen. Chad doesn’t seem totally enthused by this.
Jack is in confessional; everyone is speaking about the Vs.
Erica is going through files; Tyler is heading out when Jack arrives. He wants to be useful; Erica knows how he feels. He wonders why the Vs are infiltrating sleeper cells instead of just annihilating them. Because they’re smart and patient and need humans for something. Until this is figured out, they have to fight the same way. She’s trying to find anyone who was at the warehouse and has narrowed it down to a couple of hundred. She gets a call to go to the Peace Ambassador Centre because there’s been a death threat against the Vs. And if a human kills one, Vs will look like the good guys. Jack offers to stay and keep going through the list.
Ryan is with his girlfriend; she thinks the Vs are friendly and protestors will realise this eventually. She wonders if he’s keeping a secret. He says he’d never want to keep secrets from her. Not the same as saying he isn’t.
After the meeting he gets into a car with Georgie. The latter hasn’t tried to contact anyone since the ambush. He doesn’t know who to trust, and how can they mount anything without resources and people? Ryan says John May, the leader of the Fifth Column, the first V to turn. He’s not a myth and can bring an army.
Marcus is speaking to another V, Joshua, about Maddox; in the previous episode, “There Is No Normal Anymore”, it was revealed he was alive. They need to know if he was compromised. Maddox is told they were going for his heart and if he was human, he’d be dead. It may take a while to get his memories back.
Anna is watching Chad reporting about the widow of the pilot of an F16 fighter who is on hunger strike. Marcus joins her and says the FBI is on its way. Anna wants as much information on Faulkner as possible as she’s the dace of the protest.
Erica arrives at the centre and her boss tells her about the threat from a shooter. It’s a real one. They’re coordinating with V security, and each FBI agent will be partnered with a V. Erica wants access to the surveillance room. There, she’s told that V casualties will be treated by their own and that their surveillance is still using the human tech. Which is a lie.
Jack has found Georgie in the files and leaves a message for Erica. Gorgie is with Ryan, who is heading to see an old Fifth Columnist colleague, Cyrus.
Jack finds Georgie’s house, but is told it’s empty. The woman who finds him there says that when George’s family was killed, he blamed aliens. Jack asks the woman to pass a message on; he was at the warehouse.
Maddox is trying to recover his memories and is told his would-be killer probably saw his real face. Anna explains why she’s focusing on Faulkner and wants the other commanders to manipulate public opinion.
