“Flight Path” is episode fifteen of season one of UFO.
A UFO has landed and a man is staggering back to his car. Inside it, he reveals that his name is Dawson and he’s a medical technician at SHADO HQ.
On MoonBase, a man is looking at something. He seems concerned. Lt. Ellis summons the man, Paul Roper, to the Control Sphere as the Earth flight is ready to leave.
Back on Earth, Roper gets a call in his car. He refuses to tell the person what they want. His wife his mentioned.
His wife, Carol, is at home, when an intruder starts coming in. Roper gets home, finds the door open and is nearly shotgunned. By Carol. Carol tells him about the intruder and asks Roper if he will phone the police. He says yes and gives her a pill. He then gets a call and agrees to give the other what they want.
The next morning, Roper tells his wife that the police came whilst she was asleep and that the intruder was caught. At SHADO Control, Roper has a debriefing test. One of the techs is Dawson. Afterwards, he bumps into Freeman. After they chat, Freeman asks the doctor how the test went. Too soon to tell, but some signs of stress.
When the full results are in, Straker discusses the test with Freeman. The tests show Roper is a mess and a risk. Straker wants Freeman to check him.
Roper returns after a night out with his wife. She thinks she sees someone – which she did – but Roper dismisses it. After taking her inside, he goes to put the car away and gets a call. Roper tells the caller to never contact him or his wife again. He starts reciting coordinates. Someone is watching and recording. The someone is Freeman.
Roper is with the doctor again and Straker wants to know who he was talking to, what he told them and what they want. Straker talks to Freeman, as Roper isn’t talking. Freeman says a threat to Roper’s wife would have worked. So, Straker says that to protect her, Roper needs to tell all.
Roper was given data to feed into S.I.D. and memorised the results. However, he doesn’t know what they are for. Which means SHADO need to try and work out just what the information is and what it will be used for.
