“Exposed” is episode two of season one of UFO.
Straker is about to head home from SHADO Control when he’s told about a possible UFO sighting. This is confirmed and Moonbase launches three interceptors against the three UFOs. The interceptors take down two UFOs but the third gets through. Straker is told that there’s an aircraft in the area the UFO is heading to.
It’s not military, nor a commercial jet, but an experimental jet from the Ventura Aircraft Corporation on a test flight. Straker instructs them to have the jet alter course. Sky 1 is launched. The pilot and co-pilot on the jet have seen the UFO; the co-pilot is taking pictures and the pilot, Foster, activates the plane’s camera. He’s then contacted and told to alter course but doesn’t. Alex warns Straker that the jet might be too close, but Sky 1 has to shoot anyway. The UFO is destroyed and the jet goes into a dive. The co-pilot falls unconscious.
Foster wakes up with his eyes covered. Dr Frazer tells him he has temporary blindness and has been unconscious for six days and that the co-pilot didn’t make it. When Foster heads to work, his boss, Kofax, tells him to take a few days off. Foster wants the film from the plane. Kofax says the military have the film and the plane. He has read Foster’s report and says it will be torn to pieces; Foster will never fly for anyone ever again if he pushes. At SHADO, Straker is told that Foster wants a hearing.
Foster then meets with a man, Jackson, on a plane. It seems this is Foster’s third encounter with a UFO. He’s shown the plane’s film, but it doesn’t have a UFO on it. Jackson tries to convince Foster he didn’t see anything. Foster, however, keeps digging; his co-pilot was also taking photos for one thing. And it sounds like Straker is perfectly willing to kill him rather than have the entire operation exposed.
