“Trees Made of Glass: Part 1” is episode one of the first, and only, season of Threshold.
A freighter in the North Atlantic Ocean has a strange encounter, an encounter with an object that is believed to be alien in nature, as it was detected entering Earth’s atmosphere from deep space. The vessel went out of contact. It’s not certain whether this a civilian or military vessel, from the description; it doesn’t look military, but it’s described as being a naval vessel.
Dr. Molly Anne Caffrey, a worst case scenario designer, written a plan for this, called Threshold, and is called in. A team of scientists is assembled, with military backup, to investigate the possibility of alien contact. Brent Spiner, probably most famous for his role as Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Peter Dinklage, probably most famous for his role of Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, both have roles as scientists on Dr. Caffrey’s team.
The team is flown out to the freighter, but they only have limited time, as a North Korean submarine is heading that way. Only one crew member is found alive; the others are dead, often disfigured, or missing.
