“The Elongated Knight Rises” is episode eleven of season four of The Flash.
In the previous episode, “The Trial of The Flash”, Barry ended up in prison. There’s a riot going on and Barry is shaking in his cell. Then he finally intervenes and stops it.
Joe is with the police trying to talk down a man wearing a bomb inside a jeweller. The man has three hostages and is making demands as Ralph pulls the hostages out of danger. Then confronts the man. Who asks who Ralph is. Ralph contacts the others wanting to know what his name is. They have nothing. Ralph ends up grabbing the bomb and having it detonate inside him.
Watching the news at S.T.A.R. Labs, Ralph isn’t happy being called the Stretchy Man. Iris wants Cisco to go with Ralph next time. Because he needs to be more cautious. Ralph just wants a new super name.
Barry is watching the clock when the Trickster – Axel Walker – speaks to him. Barry says Axel kidnapped Barry’s father once. And Barry didn’t kill anyone. Axel says everyone is innocent in here. Especially Big Sir. Axel wants to hear how Barry killed DeVoe. But is feeling a bit ill and wonders if there was something wrong with the pudding he just finished. Barry walks away and is tripped; this might have gone further except the warden shows up, gives Barry some advice and tells Barry his 1:30 is there.
This is Iris. They’re looking to find any mistake the DeVoes made. Barry asks about the team; he saw Ralph on television. Iris says Ralph is getting cocky. Barry said he was too when he started.
Axel is taken to see a nurse. Who knows he had the pudding. And tranquilises the guard. It’s Axel’s mother. The warden speaks to Joe about this and Barry is there cleaning the corridor. Joe speaks to him and tells him Axel Walker escaped. Barry wants to help. The warden returns with the nurse’s file. Joe recognises the woman.
Back at the lab, Joe tells the others that this is Zoey Clark, heir to the gone Clarx Toys empire and James Jesse’s girlfriend, Prank. She disappeared after Jesse was arrested. Axel was born nine months after she was last seen.
At Clarx Toys, Axel is saying how he wants to see his father. Zoey tries to tell him Jesse doesn’t care about his family, but Axel decides he just needs to get his father’s attention. And he’s watching Ralph on the news.
Barry is confronted in the prison gym. Someone pulls a knife and Big Sir takes down all of Barry’s attackers.
The Trickster appears on the television; he’s got some exploding bouncy balls. Cisco breaches Ralph to Trickster’s location. Trickster’s exploding bouncy ball and throwing stars don’t hurt Ralph. The specially formulated acid, however, does.
Even though Ralph fared far better than anyone else would have against the acid, being shown he isn’t invulnerable is a huge knock to his confidence, and he starts rethinking this superhero gig. Prank, meanwhile, goes off her meds and her attitude changes a lot.
