“Crazy for You” is episode twelve of season one of The Flash.
The episode opens with a couple in an upturned car beneath a sparking power line. Barry arrives and gets the man out of the car then goes back for the woman. The power line lands on the ground, igniting a pool of fuel, and the car explodes. However, Barry had managed to get the woman out in time.
Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco is talking about the damage done to his suit, which he can pretty much forgive. Barry asks if it isn’t his suit; Cisco is okay with calling it ‘our’ suit. Caitlin says that Barry was the fastest ever and Dr. Wells tells him that the couple is alive because of that. Barry believes he can get faster but Wells says that, for now, it’s time to rest.
Cisco asks if anyone wants a drink; Barry begs off because it’s movie night with Joe. Cisco then asks Caitlin, but she’s not interested. In a way that makes Cisco ask if something is wrong. Apparently, Caitlin was looking for her tablet at Cisco’s station and discovered that he was looking into F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. – in “Revenge of the Rogues” Caitlin discovered that the ‘firestorm’ that Ronnie had mentioned in “The Man in the Yellow Suit” was actually a programme run by a Professor Stein.
Caitlin had said to stop looking into this but Cisco says that he didn’t. In the previous episode, “The Sound and the Fury”, Hartley had told Cisco that he knew what had happened to Ronnie on the night of the particle accelerator accident. Cisco admits that Hartley has made some poor choices, but continued looking into the matter. Caitlin tells Cisco that she’s accepted that Ronnie is gone and that it’s time for her to move on. Cisco points out that, whilst he may not know a lot on the subject, in order to move on you actually have to move on.
Outside Iron Heights, a woman puts a CD on then looks at the prison through a small telescope, then disappears from the car and reappears inside the prison. She knocks out some of the CCTV cameras and keeps disappearing to get away from guards. She appears to be looking for a particular prisoner, which she is. When she finds him, she teleports into his cell, then looks out of the window with the telescope – it looks like she needs to see where she’s going – and holds the man, teleporting them both outside.
Barry is in the cell the next day and Joe tells him that half of the CCTV cameras were out, but according to them the cell’s occupant, Clay Parker, should still be in his cell. Only he isn’t. Barry tells Joe that he has found organic particulates in the cell which led outside. Then, probably not by accident, Barry’s father happens to be escorted past the cell, and Barry gets to talk to his father face to face. Joe says that none of the prisoners saw or heard anything, and Henry tells Joe that they wouldn’t talk to him. Which sounds as if Henry Allen thinks they’ll talk to him.
Clay asks Shawna, the woman who broke him out, how she can do what she does. She tells him that, after Clay was locked up, she started not feeling right, then waking up in odd places. When she could control her power, she came to get Clay. Shawna wants to leave Central City but Clay says that they can’t yet. He owes a debt to someone called Marcus, and if they skip town without paying, Marcus will find them. Which would be bad. Clay believes that they can pay the debt off though – naturally, this will use Shawna’s powers.
At S.T.A.R. Labs, they are examining the particulate that Barry found. Part of it comes from Parker, but there’s also female DNA mixed in. Running that through the system brings up Shawna’s ID, as she’s in the police database for various petty crimes.
Cisco is still talking to Hartley about what happened to Ronnie. Hartley tells Cisco that Dr. Stein was at S.T.A.R. Labs the night of the accident – but he didn’t leave. Hartley tells Cisco he can’t tell him what happened, he needs to show him. Cisco really wants to know what happened to Ronnie, and may well make a mistake because of this.
When Barry finds Shawna he discovers her power – and that teleportation is faster than running. Of course Barry can catch up with Shawna once she reappears, but she can always teleport away again.
Iris talks to Barry about the breakout from Iron Heights. She knows it’s a big story, but one she’s not part of. Her editor only wants her writing about the Flash, but Iris wants to show that she’s more than the Flash’s PR flack, and she’s concerned that she will lose her job. Barry promised to help.
Caitlin asks Barry if it’s true she has no life. He says it is, but that he’s not doing much better. So, when Barry decides to go and check out some of the places that Shawna and Clay frequented, Caitlin decides to dress up and join him in a karaoke bar. Where she gets very, very drunk. And Barry is given a phone number by a woman in the bar.
