The 4400 – Hidden

“Hidden” is episode ten of season two of The 4400.

Jarvis is on the phone and when she’s finished, she asks Diana where Tom is. He isn’t in yet. Jarvis explains that the LAPD have someone who says he knows the dealer who sold the gun used to kill Jordan Collier. The man is being shipped to NTAC for questioning.

Diana calls Tom and fills him in. He says he’s a little distracted – in the previous episode, “Rebirth”, Kyle remembered shooting Jordan and fled – and doesn’t know what time he’ll be in. Tom speaks to Danny about Kyle. Danny mentions the night that Kyle was almost arrested, and he wasn’t drunk, Tom just said he was. Kyle said he blacked out, then a bunch of times afterwards. Tom says Kyle never mentioned it; Danny says Kyle tried but Tom wouldn’t listen. Tom thinks Danny could have come to him. Danny promised not to because Kyle didn’t want to go back into quarantine. Tom says Kyle never came home last night and Danny says he went to stay with Shawn. Kyle thinks he did something; he wouldn’t say what but was really freaked out. Tom goes to see Shawn, who tells him that Kyle isn’t there; he never showed. Shawn finally manages to convince Tom he’s telling the truth.

Tom is searching Kyle’s room when he hears the door, but it’s Alana. He tells her what happened. Yes, the doctors said Kyle was fine when he left quarantine, but he spent three years with a separate consciousness living in his head. Tom doesn’t want to get the police involved until he knows what Kyle did. Linda says she hasn’t heard from Kyle. Tom is going to head out and asks Alana to stay by the phone in case Kyle calls.

Ross is preparing Shawn for an interview when Danny arrives. Shawn heads to speak to his brother who talks about Tom; Shawn explains that Kyle didn’t show. He’d like to give Danny the tour, but doesn’t have the time and asks Liv to.

The man the LAPD sent is being interviewed by Jarvis and Diana. He gives the name, Victor Rios, and address. Rios wanted to swap a weapon for some product, and he describes the gun. The next time he saw Rios he was bragging he’d sold it, two days before Collier was killed. He figured it wasn’t a coincidence.

Shawn finds Liv and Danny in the garden. Danny has invited Liv to a party, but Shawn says that’s a bad idea. She decides to go anyway once Shawn has left.

Tom speaks to Wendy Paulson, who explains how she found Kyle in the hallway. She sent him away. Tom understands; she was scared. Yes, but not as scared as Kyle was. She told him to talk to Tom. Tom wishes he had. Wendy says he tried to; she is sure Kyle loves Tom but doesn’t think he really trusts his father.

Diana and Maia are going to make brownies when Diana gets called in to work. Maia tells her not to go. If she chases after than man, someone will get hurt. She doesn’t know who. Diana speaks to Marco about it. She hasn’t told Tom as he’s been off the case and it might be better for his health if he stayed that way. Maia’s visions aren’t normally so vague. Marco points out the vision involves Maia’s mother. She might not want to see clearly.

Jarvis and Diana speak to Rios’s wife, who hasn’t seen him in two weeks. She’s convinced to talk; she did see the young man in the sketch. Bought a big rifle. And a handgun. Left in a taxi. Because she called it.

Tom speaks to two of Kyle’s classmates and discovers that he vanished in the middle of a lesson. The day Jordan Collier was killed. Tom looks at the sketch again afterwards and Jarvis tells him to come in. They have some real leads. Tom also speaks to Alana about it. Though Kyle may not be responsible for his actions. Tom doesn’t think a jury will buy it. Tom desperately needs to find Kyle before NTAC does and NTAC is closing in on him.

Liv’s visit to the kegger resulted in her taking some drugs back to the centre. Fortunately, she doesn’t take them, but Shawn probably should have explained to Danny, if not in Liv’s presence, why he didn’t want her to go to a kegger.
