The 100 – The Flock

“The Flock” is episode nine of season seven of The 100.

At the end of the previous episode, “Anaconda”, Clarke demanded that Bill send in her friends. And three Disciples stepped forward and removed their helmets, revealing Octavia, Echo and Diyoza.

Three months earlier, all four were going for Disciple training, as agreed at the end of “The Queen’s Gambit”. Anders says he will open their eyes to the truth of their cause, show them what happens if they lose the last war. Anders is taking them to the surface. Anders tells them to put their masks on. The particulate matter is lethal to humans, literally calcifying them. The doors open, revealing what’s left of Bardo. Anders says the Bardoans lost their last war. This is all that’s left. Now they know what to train for.

Later, all four are with Levitt. Diyoza says Anders took them outside. Where Levitt tried to send them. Levitt says it’s survivable for an hour or two; that would give him time to figure something out. Octavia thinks Levitt could have found an easier way to kill them. Levitt is only there because of his knowledge of Octavia. Anders is going to lead the training. Something he never does. And Levitt warns them Anders will mess with their minds.

Anders arrives with four more, their training partners. They can start with some simple sparring. The new people get taken down in barely a second. Levitt says to Anders that Octavia has killed more people than he’s seen in his life and Echo and Diyoza trained as elite warriors. Anders agrees that’s why they’ll be invaluable in the final war. Levitt says they may not have much time. Clarke will arrive soon. He suggests showing the four their way of life. Anders first wants to break their bonds with each other. Starting with the fear sim. If they fail, they will be sent back to Penance to die alone.

The Children of Gabriel and the prisoners had taken control of the great hall. Emori is talking to Madi and Jordan when Nikki comes over to get her. Nikki uses the intercom system and announces that she invites Russel Prime, Daniel Prime and Raven Reyes to meet her at the palace in 20 minutes, or they start killing hostages. Starting with Emori. Murphy and Jackson have been listening; Emori tells Murphy not to do anything stupid. Jackson grabs Murphy as he starts to leave, saying they need a plan. Murphy doesn’t think they have much in the way of assets. Then Indra shows up. She is not happy.

Indra says all she found at Gabriel’s camp was bodies. Not their people. There was no trace of them and Indra left a unit to search for them, afraid what might happen if she stayed out too long. She got that right. Gaia is with the others but they can take care of themselves. Murphy and Jackson can’t. With no Raven, Murphy suggests handing himself and Russell over. Two out of three. Indra doesn’t want to free Sheidheda; that’s what he wants. Murphy says it will buy them some time. He’s going in anyway.

They head to see Sheidheda. He wants an incentive to go in. Indra gives him some more freedoms. Sheidheda has something that could help; a map that shows a tunnel into the great hall. This could be the start of a beautiful friendship. The other two do not agree.

Much of the time is with the training on Bardo. Hope is either not falling for the brainwashing, or not as good at hiding her real self as the other three. That might be unfortunate. Then there’s Sheidheda. They may be able to deal with the Children and the criminals. But what is Sheidheda really after? He was a very good Commander. Even if not a nice one. He’s probably better at planning things out than Indra.
