“Memento Mori” is episode six of season six of The 100.
In the previous episode, “The Gospel of Josephine”, Josie revealed who she really was to Murphy, as he seemed enamoured with the idea of immortality. They’ve now spent all night with Murphy briefing Josie about Clarke’s life, so that she can fool Abby. Josie recounts some of it and says Clarke was kind of awesome. Unless you were in her way, according to Murphy.
Madi starts screaming and Murphy tells Josie this is a dress rehearsal. Gaia is with Madi and tells Josie that the Dark Commander is getting stronger. They have to do the separation ritual. Josie still doesn’t understand Grounder that well and ends up waking Madi. Then telling her it’s not real, just a dream. Gaia states it is real, and doing that could have harmed Madi and the Flame. Josie says it didn’t, though. After they leave, Madi sees Sheidheda in a mirror. Josie may have done harm.
In the morning, Emori, Echo and Raven return. They ran into Jordan and want to leave. Murphy says no. Josie says Bellamy is out scouting the new site., and manages to convince them to play nice. Raven leaves to talk to Ryker, and Emori follows to stop her from staring a war. Echo is going to find Bellamy. Josie thinks Echo may be a problem. Murphy wants to know what happened to Bellamy. He isn’t dead, but Josie gives Murphy until second moon to convince him to agree.
Murphy is sent in with Bellamy as a captive. He says they were offered a deal. Bellamy tells Murphy that Clarke cared about Murphy. About all of them. He doesn’t want to deal. They don’t need to build their own compound; they can kill them all and take theirs. Murphy asks where Blodreina is when you need her.
Currently sneaking up on Xavier, with Diyoza. Diyoza disarms Xavier, but Octavia is in pain. Her hand got damaged by the temporal flare. Xavier says she was only partly exposed, or would be fossilised like the trees. He might be able to help. There’s a medicine and they need to go back where the flare happened. In three hours, the temporal flux will reach Octavia’s brain and she’ll be dead.
Raven is talking to Ryker about the protective field. It becomes clear she knows what’s going on., She tells Ryker that she can understand wanting a new body, but not murdering others to get it. Ryker says it isn’t murder; they offer themselves willingly. Sure, because they’ve been brainwashed into believing the Primes are gods. Ryker says he was just a kid when Russell killed them all during the first Red Sun. And he’s now in his ninth body, so how old was he when he took that one? 206. Ryker’s protests are not convincing.
Echo is in the woods when she finds a man with vines growing into him. He asks her for mercy. Jade stops her from giving it. But when the man asks again, Echo knocks Jade out and gives him it. Echo is not someone you want angry with you.
Bellamy realises that Murphy is not telling the entire truth. Murphy explains why. They can’t bring Clark back – not totally certain – but Murphy can save them. Starting with Bellamy. Murphy doesn’t want to start another war and destroy another planet. A point. Bellamy isn’t willing to agree. Murphy will do his best to make sure they only kill Bellamy.
In the woods, Xavier is filling in Diyoza about the Primes. She says that Gabriel lost his taste for immortality and become a terrorist who killed his own people. Xavier says Gabriel called it his moral awakening. Don’t they all, is Diyoza’s response. She’s been in a similar position. Xavier explains what will happen to her daughter. Diyoza’s days of fighting for lost causes are over. Xavier thinks Octavia is as lost as they come.
Josie’s impersonation of Clarke is less than perfect. Gaia needs Madi to do the separation ritual, but it looks like Sheidheda may have grown too strong. Abby is still trying to find a cure for Kane. And Octavia’s injury reveals something surprising.
