“From the Ashes” is episode one of the seventh and final season The 100.
In the season six finale, “The Blood of Sanctum”, someone called Hope had emerged from the Anomaly and stabbed Octavia, who then vanished into the Anomaly. Bellamy has run outside to try and find Octavia but something knocks him down. Echo comes out and sees Bellamy being dragged off by something and is knocked down herself.
Gabriel is looking at Hope’s tattoos when she awakens. He calls for Bellamy and tries to check Hope’s hand, which is bloody. She takes him down and runs off. Gabriel heads outside and Echo tells him they’re not alone as he is knocked down as well. Gabriel says something else came through. They have to go after Bellamy.
Hope is running, then stops and removes a bandage from her arm. A tube has been inserted into it and inside is a small piece of paper. On one side is what looks like a code in the Anomaly’s pattern. The other side says to trust Bellamy.
Gabriel and Echo are looking for Bellamy when Hope attacks. When she hears Bellamy is gone, she brings out the message. Echo doesn’t believe that Hope has forgotten everything, but Gabriel does. And finds everything incredible.
Meanwhile, Gaia and Madi arrive at a house to be greeted by Clarke. Russell built it for Simone, the farmhouse where she grew up. Gaia speaks to Clarke; she’s concerned about pretending that Madi is still the Commander. Clarke wants Madi to finally get to be a kid. Inside, Indra says Wonkru need to see Madi. Gaia says there’s never been an ex-Commander before. They don’t know how it will affect Madi, let alone being possessed by Sheidheda. Raven is still concerned about where the code went when Sheidheda was removed. Clarke tells her to check the computers again on the next supply run.
Heading back to Sanctum, Indra says that keeping the peace will be hard. Many still believe in the Primes. The Children of Gabriel want Russell Prime dead, as well as anyone who believes in him. And they have 36 criminals from Earth that Wonkru was fighting a few days ago. When they arrive, Raven says it will be two years for their compound to be built if everything goes perfectly. So, three years.
There’s already trouble in the palace; some of the criminals want to move in and one has a knife to Jordan’s throat. Those who follow the Primes want them out and the Children of Gabriel just want the place gone. Things are starting to devolve when Clarke and the others arrive. The palace is off-limits to everyone. Jordan explains that the followers want to see Russell. Clarke says he can go. Russell just wants to die and he smashes a mind drive that Jordan gives him.
Murphy is feeling guilty about Abby’s death. Raven wants him and Emori to pretend to be Primes to help smooth things over. Murphy doesn’t want to. Jordan arrives and speaks to the followers, who head outside followed by the Children of Gabriel. In order to protect Gabriel, Clarke decides he needs to be moved to the palace.
Things are still problematic, given a number of different groups who don’t much like each other and Wonkru trying to keep the peace. Sheidheda isn’t as gone as everyone hopes, which is another problem. And there’s something odd that’s come out of the Anomaly.
