“Girl… You’ll Be a Woman, Soon” is episode five of season two of Superman and Lois.
Metropolis, 1979, and a young girl is with another man and they are meeting with an attorney. The girl, Ally, is told that the trust will cover her living expenses and she gets the house, but to get the inheritance she has to agree to look after something. Which is a pendant like the one the alternate Superman was wearing. No pendant, no inheritance. The man, her uncle, tries to talk Ally out of it, as the pendant killed her father and has destroyed their family for generations. The attorney tells her it’s her choice. Miss Allston. The young Ally Allston takes the pendant. After her uncle leaves, the attorney tells Ally it’s up to her to complete her father’s work.
In the present, Ally is looking at the pendant and she’s expecting a guest.
Clark and Lois are talking; he’s feeling guilty about John Henry being put in the hospital in the previous episode, “The Inverse Method”. Lois says if he feels guilty, she has to as well for first involving John Henry and she already feels guilty enough about Lucy. Lois is now starting to wonder if she was wrong. The shadow dimensions and mirror selves Ally talked about sounded like a lie, until she saw the bizarre version of Clark. Lois is now wondering if she missed something. Jonathan and Jordan are asked to stay in because people are coming to set up the barn for Sarah’s quincenaera.
Sarah is dancing with Kyle, who then dances with Lana. Then Kyle gets a call from someone who he was probably seeing in the past. He blanks it and lies. It seems the family is going to change their name back to Cortez.
Superman arrives at hospital to see a battered Tag. They talk and Superman asks where the pendant Tag took is. He gave it to General Anderson. Superman tells him that was the right thing to do and to rest; he’ll be back soon.
Sam arrives at the farm, having agreed to train Jordan. Jonathan questions what’s going on and Jordan admits it. Sam tells Jordan he’d make a terrible spy. Their parents aren’t ready to face the reality of Jordan’s situation yet, but at some point, Clark may need Jordan’s help. Sam wants Jordan to be prepared. And he could use Jonathan’s help as well to figure out Jordan’s baseline.
Lois is watching a video of Ally at the Gazette when Chrissy arrives. Chrissy has a bit of a go at her for keeping secrets and only giving Chrissy the information she wants to give. It makes trust hard. Chrissy is heading out to find the truth herself. When she’s gone, Lois notices Dr Faulkner in the video. And the alternate Superman is watching Faulkner at the mine.
Superman goes to see Anderson about the pendant. Anderson believes the kids were the best option. They were soldiers, trained to protect the country against every threat. Except ones that look like Superman. Superman says he doesn’t know what the other is or where it’s from, but he’s going to stop it. He wants the pendant, as he thinks he can use it to track the other. Anderson thinks Superman is powering up from the pendant. He won’t hand it over until Superman brings the other. Then they can discuss the matter.
Clark tells Lois this; he wants to leave Sam out of the matter for now. Lois is heading to the mines because Faulkner is one of Ally’s disciples. A strange coincidence. Lois thinks Faulkner is the reason the other is here.
Chrissy is meeting with Ally, and they talk. However, Ally has drugged Chrissy’s tea.
Lois arrives at the mines looking for Faulkner. She finds the other Superman in Faulkner’s office. The other leaves. Faulkner is dead. She calls Superman and says she thinks she startled the other. He flew off. Why kill Faulkner and spare her? Superman suggests that maybe the other was married to an alternate version of Lois. Lois finds a picture of Ally from a magazine cover and suggests they’re after the same enemy.
Chrissy finally comes around and asks what it was she saw. The truth. She’s now ascended. Chrissy says it was she was like some bizarro version of herself. Jonathan decides to take some of the XK drug when he’s training with Jordan. The drug may be having an effect on him other than the obvious. Ally clearly knows more than she’s telling. But she may know less than she thinks. The quincenaera has issues.
