“The Scourge” is episode seventeen of season nine of Stargate SG-1.
SG-1 are setting off on a mission to explore some Ancient ruins when it is scrubbed. Instead, they are informed that they will be babysitting foreign diplomats from the International Oversight Authority as they tour the Gamma Site, along with Mr Woolsey. I don’t think I’ve heard the Gamma Site being referenced before.
One of the scientists at the site is studying some alien insects which may, or may not, be associated with the Priors. The insects devastate any plant life, so he decides to feed them some meatloaf, which you just know is going to be a mistake. And it is, the insects multiply and break out of their container. Although it initially looks like they’ve all been disposed of – but one bit the scientist first. Then more bugs start coming out of him. They lose control of the gate room, and Mr Woolsey insists that SG-1 safeguards the delegates.
More and more bugs, and they all wind up being chased by bugs that look to have escaped from the remake of The Mummy. They’re about as friendly and non-threatening as the scarabs from that film as well.
