“Space Race” is episode eight of season seven of Stargate SG-1.
Warrick Finn, whose crashed ship the Cerberus was discovered in “Forsaken” and whose crew was rescued by SG-1, offers access to the Serrakin’s technology – but in exchange, he wants help.
He’s after a naquadah generator to help his ship win a race known as the Loop of Garat. Sam is willing, if not eager to help – as long as she gets to participate in the race.
Warrick is a little short on cash, after being out of commission for so long, so he needs to win the race to become solvent again, as the winner gets a contract with the race’s sponsor. The race is quite dangerous, and there have been fatalities. Which doesn’t help when it appears a competitor is sabotaging the competition.
This episode has quite a few amusing ads from the race’s sponsor scattered amongst the race commentary, which reminded me of the old OCP ads from the original RoboCop.
