Stargate SG-1 – Politics

“Politics” is episode twenty one of season one of Stargate SG-1.

In the previous episode, “There But for the Grace of God”, Daniel had visited an alternate universe where the Earth was being destroyed by the Goa’uld. He returned with the coordinates to a Goa’uld world, but the rest of the team has difficulty accepting that he actually visited another universe – although Sam does admit it is theoretically possible.

Meanwhile, Senator Kinsey, the chairman of the Appropriations Committee (and someone who will become a regular nuisance), is visiting the SGC and he isn’t happy with the entire programme and wants to shut it down.

He has to be convinced that SGC must remain in operation, and Daniel’s story of an alternate universe is probably not going to help matters as it sounds too incredible – after all, many of his own people don’t believe it/

The inquiry discusses past missions – which means that we see clips from previous episodes, making this a flashback episode – not the best type of episode, and a very early point in the series to have one.
